Surgical Procedure
We use the micrograft and minigraft megasession for the treatment of male pattern baldness. Micrograft means grafts with one or two hairs, minigrafts are those with three or four hairs, and a megasession is a procedure in which more than thousand micrografts and minigrafts are inserted in a single session. Natural and aesthetically pleasing results without visible scarring are usually achieved with this technique in one session. Even though the hair density achieved in a single megasession is limited, there is a high level of patient satisfaction. The procedure may be repeated for additional density.
Duration of Operation
Four to six hours.
Risks and Complications
An infection or disorder of your scalp skin must be treated before hair grafting or it will interfere with the healing of your grafts. Such disorders include psoriasis, eczema, seborrhea (dandruff), and acne in and around the scalp. An underlying illness, such as diabetes or lowered immune resistance, increases your risk of infection, poor healing, and poor growth of the grafted hair.
After Care
After six months the graft might start shedding, but will begin growing again..
Recovery
During the process of recovery, your scalp will ache and throb where the surgery was done. You may need prescription narcotic pain killers or over-the-counter acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Results
You may need a surgical "touch-up" procedure to create more natural-looking results after your incisions have healed. Sometimes, this involves blending, a filling-in of the hairline using a combination of mini-grafts, micro-grafts, or slit grafts.
Hospital Admission
Patients do not usually need to remain in the hospital.
Anesthetic
Local anesthesia ( you are awake)
Pre Operative Care
Inform us about any allergies, any serious medical condition(s), and all medications you are taking (both prescription and non-prescription)
Avoid aspirin and aspirin-containing medicines for two weeks prior to surgery.
Post Operative Care
Your scalp will be sore for a least a day. For some people, the discomfort lasts several days. You can carefully rinse but not vigorously wash your hair for the first ten days. If you are not careful, the grafts may become dislodged, bleed, and fail to grow new hair. You may brush or comb your hair where your surgery wasn't done. Also you can use a gentle blow dryer on a cool setting to dry your hair.

FAQ : Surgical Procedure
What is Hair Transplant?
A hair transplant is a process by which hair is removed from the back of the scalp and placed in other areas of the scalp, for example, the hairline or in other less dense areas.
How much pain is there?
The amount of pain depends on the extent of the procedure, and varies from person to person. Immediately following the procedure, there may be some mild discomfort that can be alleviated with oral pain medication. You should discuss your goals, budget, and pain tolerance with your doctor in order to help him/her determine the procedure, or combination of procedures, that will produce the best results for you.
Is it dangerous?
No. It is minor surface surgery, literally only skin deep, and one of the safest surgical procedures ever performed. You are under the care of qualified medical staff at all times. Your transplant takes place (using equipment kept to hospital standards) in a private office.
FAQ : Result
How is this accomplished?
Hair transplantation is a minor surgical procedure that is done in a physicians office. Hair follicles (tiny organs, located below the hair in the skin, that cause hair to grow) are dissected from a section of the scalp in the back of the head and transplanted in balding areas with minor incision in the form of a slit or in a hole made by a needle. The patient may resume their normal activity within 24 hours.
Will the new hair grow?
The new hair will grow naturally. This is your own hair which is taken from a part of the scalp which is genetically programmed to grow as opposed to the hair in the balding areas or in the hairline which is genetically programmed to fall out.
What are some of the most common benefits of this procedure?
Hair transplants can provide a new, natural-looking head of hair. While hair transplants do not actually add any hair to the head, they can provide the appearance of more hair.
What is the long-term outcome like for most people?
Because the plugs and grafts are taken from areas where hair is strong and healthy, transplants should continue to grow throughout an individual’s lifetime. While it normal for some of the grafts not to take, most people are pleased with the results of their hair transplant.
Will people notice my hair transplant?
NO. Years ago large grafts (plugs) were used and a corn cob appearance was often obtained. We are trained using a micro graft and a mini graft method, which simply means, one to four hairs in each graft. This procedure makes the hairline much more natural in appearance.
