Plastic Surgery Thailand : Fact at a glance Surgical Procedure

  • Procedure Incisions usually begin above the hairline at the temples, follow the natural line in front of the ear. The skin then separate from fat and underlying structure. The facial fascia is tightening and the excess skin is cut.

    Duration of Operation
  • One hour

    Risks and Complications
  • Complications that can occur include hematoma (a collection of blood under the skin), injury to the nerves that control facial muscles (usually temporary), infection, and reactions to the anesthesia. Poor healing of the skin is most likely to affect smokers. Most of the incision is concealed and not noticeable. It is most likely to be heavy behind the ear where there is greater tension.

    After Care
  • Following surgery, a small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin behind your ear to drain any blood that might collect there. The surgeon may also wrap your head loosely in bandages to minimize bruising and swelling.

    Recovery
  • The recovery takes one week.

    Result
  • Facial profile looks younger and delightful.

    Hospital Admission
  • Most patients do not need to stay in the hospital overnight.

    Anesthetic
  • General anesthesia (you are asleep)

    Pre Operative Care
  • Inform us about any allergies, any serious medical condition(s), and all medications you are taking (both prescription and non-prescription)
  • Avoid aspirin and aspirin-containing medicines for two weeks prior to surgery.

    Post Operative Care
  • It is important to follow a careful plan on return to strenuous activity, in order to avoid tension on the wound (which could lead to worse scarring).

Plastic Surgery Thailand : FAQ FAQ : Criteria

Who is a candidate for a face lift?
One or more of the following conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for a face lift :
    - A deep line, or fold, running from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth.
    - Jowls, or loss of a well-defined jawline associated with youthfulness.
    - Deep wrinkles in the cheeks and sagging of the "highlight" areas of the cheekbones.
    - Loose skin, wrinkles, vertical "cords" or excess fatty tissue in the neck.

    FAQ : Surgical Procedure

    What are mini face lift?
Mini facelifts are generally appropriate for people who show aging in the mid-face and do not have a severe amount of excess skin around their jaw line and neck. Mini facelifts do not stop the aging process but merely "set the clock back."

Where are the incisions placed suring mini face lift surgery?
The scars from mini facelifts usually fade and are barely perceptible. Plus, incisions used for mini facelifts may sometimes be as little as one-half the length of traditional face lifts incisions. In some patients, especially younger ones, endoscopic surgery can be used to lift the eyebrows, remove frown lines, elevate the cheek and jowls, and tighten the neck. This endoscopic surgery can be done with tiny scars. However, if there is excessive skin, it must be removed for the best results through standard facelift incisions.

    How much pain is there?
Minimal facelifts can be performed quickly and with little risk, but the degree of correction achieved by these lifts is also less. More extensive techniques can give better correction of the aging changes in the face, but at the cost of greater operating time, more risk, longer swelling, slower recovery, and greater cost. Make sure that you discuss your goals, budget, and risk tolerance with your surgeon to decide on the plan that is best for you.

How long will I be out of work after a mini face lift?
Most patients are able to return to work in two to three weeks after short-scar face lift plastic surgery. Some people believe that the recovery and bruising after this type of operation is minor compared to that of a traditional face lift. However, this has not been proven in the literature. You should allow four to eight weeks before major social engagements.

What is the difference between a mini facelift and a traditional face lift?
A mini face lift has a shorter, more limited incision than that of a traditional face lift. The incision used for a mini face lift may sometimes be as little as one-half the length of a traditional face lift incision and eliminates most of the incisions behind the ears. Thus, it is more "pony-tail friendly."
